As a potential president of the United States, I of course have to cover various issues across the US. One issue I find needs immediate response and resolution is the eating disorder epidemic in America.
All over the world and for hundreds of years men and women everywhere have struggled with body image. Though many plans have been proposed, the number of eating disorder cases and deaths is escalating every year. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services needs to devote time and money to assist those who are struggling with eating disorders by having health professionals educate to children about healthy body image and diet.
The solution is to have congress pass a law to have to give money to schools to have trained health professionals so they can instruct children in body image and dieting. Schools need programs to show kids that people cannot be as thin as the models in the magazines. Even if they were as thin as the models, it does not accomplish anything. For those who do struggle with an eating disorder, taking them from their parents and support group is not the answer! Eating disorders are mental illnesses, kids need their parents for support.
In closing, this nation will not be healthy if its people are sick. The government needs to use the time they have left wisely, or this nation will crumble. Currently the NFDA is not doing enough, and soon it will be too late. But there is hope the NFDA and the government but can turn it around. Ultimately it is the person's choice to get physically and mentally healthy.
